Michigan State's Tom Izzo and Mark Dantonio feeling the heat

"Only then can we truly begin the process of healing".

"The voices of all these women have changed MI and changed MSU forever", the attorney general said. He insisted that he was not running away from something, but rather running toward something. Spartans athletic director Mark Hollis has stepped down as well. I can assure you, as in last year's incidents, I also, immediately, reported them to the proper authorities.

In a June press conference, Dantonio lied about the number of such incidents that had occurred under his watch, saying that the dismissal of four players last spring - which stemmed from two sexual assault and violence cases - was "new ground" for the program and that those kinds of incidents had "not happened previously".

Johnson remains a visible figure in the Michigan State community. A few months later, after the Spartans qualified for the 2010 Final Four, the same assistant coach was accused of sexually assaulting a different female student.

Hollis says he wasn't informed of the 2014 investigation. The Los Angeles Lakers President of Basketball Operations took to Twitter to denounce the actions of the alleged sexual assaulters and to call for changes to be made at the university. Not only was her personal career put into jeapordy by allegations of sexual abuse against athletes, but the school's image would have suffered as well. That same day, the entire board of USA Gymnastics said they too would resign.

Now, the fact that Michigan State's facing additional allegations in the wake of a Title IX lawsuit that is under investigation right now is certainly noteworthy.

"It is abundantly clear that a full and complete investigation of what happened at Michigan State University, from the president's office on down, is required". Along with many, I was brought to tears as I listened to their statements.

The E:60 investigation also included an interview with a former MSU sexual assault counselor, Lauren Allswede, who left in 2015 after being frustrated because nothing was being done about sexual assault involving athletes. "And clearly at Michigan State that hasn't been the priority for the past 20 years".

Valid and critical questions about why, knowing for years there were allegations of sexual misconduct against sports doctor Larry Nassar at MSU and elsewhere nothing was done until now.

He added that, "No individual and no department at Michigan State University is off-limits".

ESPN found multiple claims against football and basketball players or coaches that the school has failed to publicize and in some cases has denied, concluding that the university engaged in an extensive campaign to suppress information from the public and federal investigators.

Etue came under fire previous year for posting a meme on her Facebook page that called NFL players "degenerates" for kneeling during the national anthem as a form of protest.

MSU has indeed fallen short of their goal and it has led to the resignations of Hollis and Lou Anna Simon, the school's president.
