Tim Cahill rejoins Millwall until end of season

TIM Cahill is set for a reunion with Millwall fans at The Den - before the Lions' Championship clash with Derby County on Tuesday night. It is Millwall too where he wishes to end his career, according Sky Sports, and is expected to sign in the next few days.

Tim Cahill has made his return to English football, linking up with Millwall, the club where he made his professional debut. But he will be introduced - or reintroduced - to the crowd before kick-off.

Cahill departed Melbourne City in December amid reports he fell out with coach Warren Joyce.

Millwall manager and Cahill's former teammate Neil Harris declared the former Everton man would resume life in South Bermondsey as an impact player.

Cahill will join the Championship team for the second time, wearing the No.7 shirt until the end of the season in the hopes of being picked to play for Australia for the fourth time.

Both New York City FC and Millwall were among the clubs rumoured to be in talks with Cahill as the player sought match fitness leading into the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation.

"It's familiar. Not much has really changed, which is surprising, but it's nice to come back to where I was as a kid".

"The romance of the story is definitely not lost on me".

"I'm coming home" Cahill tweeted.

"To finally come home and to join Neil Harris, David Livermore and all the lads will be really special".

"I want to thank Melbourne City, the players and the staff, and especially the fans". "Since then, I've followed his career and admired what he has done and I know full well what he can bring to my dressing room".

Australia's leading goalscorer in worldwide football - Tim Cahill is aiming for a return to English football in search of more game time in a bid for his selection to Australian world cup squad.
