'Blind to Roma is difficult'

Gene Sweeney Jr/Getty ImagesRoma and Manchester United are reportedly in the advanced stages of a deal that would bring Dutch worldwide Daley Blind to the Italian capital.

The 27-year-old has not travelled to London for Wednesday night's clash with Tottenham at Wembley while he continues his recovery from an ankle ligament injury.

"Time is running out because it's the last day of the transfer window", Danny Blind, who is also his son's agent, told LaRoma24.

Despite starting the first three Premier League games of the season, helping to keep three clean sheets, Daley Blind has gone on to make just two more league appearances this season - both from the bench with games in the dying stages.

The 55-year-old clearly prefers the know-how of Ashley Young and athleticism of Luke Shaw at left-back in league games, and has shown great reluctance to use Blind at centre-back.

United were said to want to recoup the £13m they paid Ajax for Blind in 2014 but Roma have had any hopes of a deal dashed by Jose Mourinho's insistence to keep his squad together.

"I can confirm that Roma want him but Manchester United don't want to let him go on loan, only on a permanent basis".

Yet Blind Snr claims that the move will be hard.

Jose Mourinho, the United manager, had played Blind in every competitive domestic and European cup match this season up until last Friday's FA Cup win over Yeovil Town.

Roma are on the hunt for a left-sided player after selling Emerson Palmieri to Chelsea and the Netherlands international's father Danny says a switch to the Italian capital would be favourable, but played down the chances of a deal going through. It would take a few days, maybe a week, but they are available a few hours.
