George Lucas Helped Direct A Scene In SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY

Details on Star Wars: Episode IX are slim, though we do know that J.J Abrams is returning to the director's chair, along with scribing the picture with co-writer Chris Terrio. Lord and Miller are accustomed to making movies one way, Lucasfilm prefers another. In the end, we shouldn't really be able to tell the difference anyway.

"I just say over and over again that, yes, it was an incredibly hard decision that we had to make", she said, "and obviously it was pretty late in the game, which shows we spent a lot of time trying not to have to make that decision". However, the filmmaker ended up staying for a lot longer and helped Ron Howard direct a small scene in the movie involving the Millennium Falcon and Han Solo. "It made me feel great". Notably, "I'm Han Solo" went on to take on a life of its own as one of the more popular songs and sequences from the game, so it's kind of not a surprise that the tune popped into one creative mind when the new trailer came out.

And it wasn't just because Ron Howard had taken over the project - following the firing of its original directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller ("The Lego Movie") - who Lucas has known since the 1970s when he directed Howard in "American Graffiti".

"Tell them I told you everything you needed to know, and that you can't tell anyone", Fold reportedly said. Howard isn't the most inspired choice, but he's a pro who knows how to get a film done on time. Rumors abounded that the 21 Jump Street directors had clashed with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.

"It actually is a amusing little bit that will probably get a laugh", Kennedy says. It really seems that everybody involved has simply tried to work as a team and put out the best Star Wars movie that they possibly can, which is all that fans can hope for.

"I think both Chris and Phil are enormously talented and incredibly amusing", Kathleen Kennedy tells EW. And Ron happened to be by the monitor and not inside the Falcon and he goes, 'Oh that's a great idea, ' and ran in and said, 'George wants us to do this.' So that was pretty cool. Keep an eye out for it when Solo: A Star Wars Story opens on May 25th! He could revisit these characters, and I think he felt so comfortable, obviously with Ron being there, that it was just fun for him.
