Apple updates all its operating systems to address Indian Telugu crash

Nichole VegaFeb 20, 2018

Apple has acknowledged the problem, and has released a fix through iOS 11.2.6 - the 11th official update for its iOS 11 operating system.

The U.S technology giant pushed out fixes for the glitch on February 19, and they are now available for each of its operating systems: macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

A few days ago, we reported that a Telugu character bug was crashing iPhone, iPad and other Apple devices worldwide and making them unusable.

Upon restarting the devices, users will be unable to open the Messages app, something which obviously has the potential for serious consequences, said a Forbes report.

Apple plans to fix the problem of updating the iOS to iOS release 11.3 this spring.

This update and bug come in the wake of the recent decision made by Apple bosses to slow down the pace of iOS development.

The bug affects most messaging apps, including iMessage, WhatsApp, Gmail, Outlook for iOS, or Facebook Messenger. Last month, for example, Apple patched an issue where a certain URL could crash the iOS Messages app, or cause the macOS Messages app to slow down or freeze completely. Once the update shows up just download iOS 11.2.6.

It is not the first time that Apple devices have been hit with these so-called "text bombs". You also need to keep your iPhone in close proximity to the Apple watch and a WiFi connection. The company has rolled out the fix in the form of a supplementary update across the world.

In fact, some mischief makers are sending direct messages with these characters and subjects like "retweet this to crash anyone using an Apple device" and "read this to log off instantly".
