Mavericks owner Mark Cuban denies 2011 sexual assault allegation

The Dallas Mavericks owner denies sexually assaulting a woman April 22, 2011 in a Portland, Ore., nightclub, according to The Associated Press. The woman claims that, while the two posed for a photograph together, Cuban thrust his hand down the back of her trousers, and penetrated her vagina with his finger. They left at around 2 a.m., shortly after her boyfriend suggested she try to take a picture with Cuban, who was standing by himself.

The case was investigated by the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office and Portland police; Cuban denied the allegations and no charges were filed.

She told police that Cuban initially placed his right hand on her lower back. The SI report included claims of inappropriate sexual conduct by former CEO Terdema Ussery and raised questions about what Cuban knew and when. HuffPost has reached out to Cuban for additional comment.

As a result, the incident was never previously reported and the allegation only came to light after Willamette Week obtained the police report via a public records request.

She said he agreed to pose for the picture, first putting his hand on her back. Cuban, who owns the Mavericks, is alleged to have actually slid his finger into her vagina.

When contacted by police, Cuban was adamant no sexual assault occurred. In response to the report, Cuban said he hired a third party to handle future sexual harassment complaints for the organization.

Sneed has since been fired and Cuban told Sports Illustrated that human resources director Buddy Pittman has also been given his marching orders after further details of the report emerged. "How would I get, I mean, she wouldn't say something right there and then and smack the shit out of me?"

"Oh! Hell no!", Cuban says upon hearing the accusation, per the Week.

He wasn't. McGuire's investigation concluded with a recommendation that "the case be suspended", due to the exhaustion of all leads and a lack of evidence to corroborate the woman's claims.
