Dad makes son run to school as punishment for bullying

A father angry with his 10-year-old son for getting suspended from the school bus made him run to school as punishment.

"Therefore, he has to run", Thornhill says in the almost four-minute video that has since gone viral.

In a Facebook Live video posted on Thursday, Thornhill streams his son running with his backpack on in the rain, with Thornhill riding in a auto behind him.

During his punishment lesson, Thornhill managed to bring out his humour side regarding his disciplinary ways.

The video now has over 26 million views, 550,000 shares, and 40,000 comments.

Mr Thornhill continues on to say that he has had reports that his son's behaviour has in fact improved at school and he has been "much better". "He's going to be a very fast runner later on because we've always joked he's either going to be fast or obedient".

Mr Thornhill pictured with his two children.

"This right here is just old-school, simple parenting", Thornhill says.

"Wow I just watched this video and can not agree with this form of punishment for a child on this day".

"Which I do not tolerate, I cannot stand and therefore he has to now run to school", Thornill said.

"They need parents to be supportive when they make mistakes and to take a practical role in teaching their children how to behave more respectfully".

After all of the attention in the news Tuesday morning, Thornhill posted on Facebook to praise the media for highlighting what he felt was a positive story about being a quality parent.

He finished the video saying, "Teach your kids, don't be a friend, be a parent".

In the Facebook video, Bryan Thornhill follows behind his son in his vehicle, noting that they are about a mile away at the start of the punishment.

A third video shows he and the boy's sister trying to run with him. That truly has me inspired for our future, for our children.

"If you get your panties in a wad seeing a kid jog, well I feel sorry for you", Thornhill added. "Because if a kid jogging offends you, then get your ass off the couch".
