Super Smash Bros. Series Creator Masahiro Sakurai Working on Switch Game

Nichole VegaMar 11, 2018

This is exciting now just because Super Smash a good franchise, but also because the Switch is a near-perfect platform for fighting games, and especially this series' brand of local multiplayer-friendly fun.

After the initial wave of shock - after all, Super Smash Bros. for the Switch was inevitable, but many expected such an announcement would be reserved for E3 - many fans began to wonder the all important question: is Sakurai involved? In the trailer, there was also a part where the silhouettes of the other characters were teased.

None of the characters may be considered as surprise additions, as they have all already appeared in previous Super Smash Bros. titles. The first trailer for the game is below.

Until then, speculation will be rampant and theories will be thriving in the Smash community.

Super Smash Brothers for Wii U notoriously put a lot of strain on the longtime Kirby and Smash director, so fans have been skeptical on whether or not Sakurai would return for the Switch Smash Brothers.

Nintendo Switch is launching this year for Nintendo Switch.

We didn't receive confirmation of whether this new release would be a port, tweaked remake, or an original Smash title.

It's unclear whether this game will be a remix of the 2014 "Super Smash Bros." game or something completely different, as Mashable reported.
