Tottenham issue a statement with an update on Harry Kane's injury

Kane sustained an ankle ligament problem for the third time in 18 months during Tottenham's 4-1 win at Bournemouth on Sunday.

The England striker will be fit to represent England in the World Cup, despite claims to the contrary on Tuesday night.

Spurs didn't confirm when Kane will return but did say next month is the aim, with damaged ligaments less severe than what was initially feared.

"Disappointing to be out until next month but injuries are part of the game", Kane said on Twitter. "Will do everything I can to get back out there asap (as soon as possible)".

Kane's pursuit for the Premier League top marksman might suffer a setback as he is now tied with Liverpool's Mohammed Salah with 24 goals.

Kane got his foot caught under Begovic after half an hour at Bournemouth and had to be taken off. Mauricio Pochettino afterwards admitted it left him anxious.

The striker will miss Saturday's FA Cup quarterfinal at Swansea City and the potential top-four decider against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where Spurs have not won since 1990.

The England global suffered the blow during the team's 4-1 victory over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

The injury seems to be similar to one he suffered against Millwall during the FA Cup quarter final on March 12, eerily almost exactly a year to the day of the latest problem, when the 24 year-old missed just three games and was out for four weeks.

There had been concerns the player would be out until May, and possibly struggling to make the FIFA World Cup with England.

Kane, 24, who has scored 39 goals for club and country this season, was pictured with his foot in a brace and using crutches on Monday.
