Gold Coast: India stormed into the semi-finals of the badminton mixed team event at the 21st Commonwealth Games after thrashing an unfancied Mauritius 3-0 in the quarter-finals at the Carrara Sports Arena here on Saturday.

India was ranked five in the medals tally at the time of publishing of this article, with two gold, one silver and one bronze, behind Scotland (No.4), Canada (No. 3), England (No.2) and Australia (No. 1).

The Ugandan national women's netball team, who are appearing at the Games for the first time, registered their first ever win after beating Malawi 54-52 in the pool stages.

Toomey's success means Australia have their first Commonwealth Games gold medal in 12 years.
