Federal agents seize documents from President Trump's personal attorney

Cohen has publicly admitted to making a $130,000 payment, from his home equity line of credit, to adult-film star Stormy Daniels in October 2016 in return for her silence about an alleged 2006 affair between Trump and Daniels, and to setting up a limited-liability company in DE to make the payment 10 days before the money transfer. Another source said Monday that the search included bank records.

US Federal agents armed with search warrants have seized documents from President Donald Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen, a defence lawyer said Monday.

Despite that fact, Trump, of course, lost his mind over it, attacking the Federal Bureau of Investigation for doing its job and declaring it "an attack on our country".

"The attorney general made a bad mistake when he did this and when recused himself or he certainly should have let us know if he was going to recuse himself and we would have put a different attorney general in", Trump said.

The FBI raided Cohen's offices Monday and seized "privileged communications".

The decision to obtain a search warrant is a rare move that raises questions about what federal agents expected to find in Cohen's office.

Ryan's statement called the search "completely inappropriate and unnecessary", and said federal prosecutors had told him it stemmed partially from a referral by the office of special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating links between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

A veteran prosecutor and a former FBI director, Mr Mueller is seeking to interview Mr Trump, but has not said the president is a target in the investigation.

"This is ridiculous. This is now getting ridiculous", Trump said Monday, pointing to a "whole new level of unfairness".

Asked whether he would fire Mueller, Trump said, "Well, I think it's a disgrace what's going on".

"And I have this witch hunt constantly going on for over 12 months now and actually much more than that".

"We'll see what happens. Many people have said you should fire him", he said.

TRUMP: "Again, they found nothing. And in finding nothing, that's a big statement".

Trump wasted no time addressing the raids when reporters entered the Cabinet Room where he was meeting with senior military leaders, starting his remarks by calling Mueller's investigation a "witch hunt" and a "disgrace".

Donald Trump called the special prosecutor Robert Mueller's team investigating the alleged Russian intervention in the USA presidential election in 2016, "the most prejudiced group of people".

Cohen's office in the search was located at law firm Squire Paton Boggs, where he had been working as part of a "strategic partnership".

DONALD Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen has been in the news frequently following the Stormy Daniels saga. "These activities do not relate to the firm and we are in full cooperation".

But she wasn't the only one standing firmly in Trump's corner. The president's in-house counsel, Ty Cobb, declined to comment.

Mueller reports to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. (AMI), the company that owns the National Enquirer so she could break her silence about the alleged affair. Representatives for Trump have denied both McDougal and Daniels' accounts.

CBS News' justice department correspondent, Paula Reid, told Inside Edition she was surprised by the outburst.

According to Cohen's court filing, Daniels' defamation suit is "completely without merit and appears to be a desperate attempt by [Daniels] to keep at least a portion of this case out of arbitration". McDougal said she and Trump had an extended affair from 2006-2007, and Daniels said she also had sex with Trump in 2006 and alleged she was later threatened to stay quiet about it.

While Mr. Trump is focused for the moment on Mr. Rosenstein, numerous president's advisers and allies are fearful that the president also intends to fire Mr. Mueller in an attempt to end the Russian Federation investigation. Michael is my attorney.

He continued: "You'll have to ask Michael Cohen".
