Karnataka Exit Polls Predict Uncertain Results

Lynette PayneMay 14, 2018

The results of Karnataka Assembly elections will be declared on Tuesday.

The ABP C Voter predicted 107 seats for the BJP, 88 for the Congress, 25 for the JD-S and four for others, while India Today-Axis predicted the BJP getting 85, the Congress 112, the JD-S 26 and others one.

The two news channels gave the incumbent Congress 78 and 83-94 seats and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda-led JD (S) 37 and 20-29 seats respectively.

He further added, "So, Dear party workers, supporters & well wishers, don't worry about exit polls".

Sinha said the highest polling of 76 per cent was recorded in Chikkaballapura and Ramanagara while Bengaluru Urban had the lowest turnout at 48 per cent.

When asked if the party secures majority and wants to appoint a dalit as the CM, Siddaramaiah said: "I'll tell them do it".

The face-off in Karnataka is being seen as the Congress's last stand in a battle to claim national party status, while for the BJP it is a chance to come closer to realizing Modi's dream of an India purged of the Congress.

"Our own internal surveys have not let us down as majority have predicted that we will emerge as the single largest party and form the government". Confident of Congress's victory in Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018, CM Siddaramaiah dismissed the exit polls predictions in a series of tweets and said, "Exit opinion polls are entertainment for the next 2 days". Relax & enjoy your weekend.

Addressing the media here, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said that he does not believe in the exit polls whether it is in favour or against his party. Also, you'll see Chief Minister Siddramaiah is contesting from Badami and Chamundeshwari constituencies for Congress. They predicted 79-82 and 80-93 seats for the BJP, respectively.

Over 2.13 per cent voter turnout was recorded on Saturday in the high-stakes Karnataka assembly elections amid projections that main contenders BJP and Congress are in a neck-and-neck race. There is also no need for me to think in terms of forging an alliance with JD (S) as we are sure that BJP will gain majority.

Through the election campaign, the Congress and its chief Rahul Gandhi had pointed to evidence on the ground that suggested the Janata Dal Secular could be playing the BJP's B-team.
