Despite previously challenging conditions, Hurlbut said, the children are doing well.

Police arrested Jonathan Allen (Jonathan Allen) and Eli Rogers (Ina Rogers) for cruelty to children.

Henry declined to say whether the district attorney's office would file further charges against Rogers.

Their case came to light in January after their 17-year-old daughter escaped the home and alerted authorities in Perris, California.

Rogers was unrepentant. She said the children suffered bumps and bruises associated with being kids but no serious injuries.

His bail was increased by Commissioner Robert Q. Warshawsky from $1.5 million at the time of his arrest to $5.2 million.

"I am an awesome mother", Ina Rogers told reporters in the city of Fairfield, where she lived with the children, ages 4 months to 12 years, before one of them briefly disappeared in March, kicking off an abuse investigation. According to the police statement, they were victims of physical and emotional abuse.

Those conditions indicated incidents of child abuse of the 10 children, who range in age from 4 months to 11 years old, police said.

I strive, I thrive on being a good parent to my children.

In addition, according to police, they lived in "unsafe and unsanitary conditions" - all in one room, among the debris, spoiled food, and animal and human feces.

The children describe intentional abuse resulting in puncture wounds, burns, bruising, injuries consistent with being shot with a pellet gun, or B.B. gun.

The father, 29-year-old Jonathan Allen, was arrested on Friday, May 11, and taken into jail on seven counts of torture as well as nine counts of child abuse. She was released after posting $10,000 bail, court records show. "I am an unbelievable mother", she told reporters from her doorstep Monday.

Commenting on the case, Sharon Henry, chief deputy district attorney for Solano County, said she was "horrified" by statements made by the children while noting that torture was carried out in the house "for sadistic purposes".

"There's no broken bones, there is no major scars, nothing", Rogers told reporters in front of her house.

The 10 children were initially placed in the care of Solano County Child Welfare Services, but are now staying with Rogers' sister and mother in the Bay Area, according to KGO.

She explains the mess, that fear set in that my son may be missing, so I ripped up my whole house, lifted up their beds. The mother has denied the accusation and said she found the charged "appalling".

Rogers said she feels the family is being judged for having so many children and choosing to home-school them. He had been angry because Allen and Rogers had tried to take away his tablet computer, Rogers said, according to the AP. A bathroom floor also seemed to be smeared with feces.
