Next week marks two years since the release of Overwatch. With the event beginning next week on May 22nd, Blizzard chose to kick off the festivities early by teasing two new skins for the event. While Blizzard has already announced the start date of this year's anniversary festivities, Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan offered a few more details on Wednesday afternoon regarding what exactly the anniversary would entail. That all calls for a celebration, and we're getting one with Overwatch's second Anniversary event! Venom Soldier 76 is an Epic skin that replaces everyone's favorite shooter-dad with an imposing villainous look. "There's a lot of diversity and we think you'll find it super, super fun".

Kaplan also added that the Overwatch community now boasts 40 million players. This Anniversary Loot Box will always contain an anniversary item and also has a chance to contain another item from any of Overwatch's past seasonal events. Included is a range of new content such as over 50 cosmetic items, a new death match map, and all previous seasonal cosmetic items. All of them being Legendary, Epic or Origin skins. Free-for-All fans should also know that Blizzard is planning to launch the game's first-ever Free for All Competitive season, which should make the game mode more appealing for more hardcore players. Players logging during the event will receive a bonus Legendary loot box, guaranteeing one Legendary item.
