The Emmy-nominated actress from "The Crown" is taking on the role of Lisbeth Salander, the hacker created by author Stieg Larsson and previously played on the big screen by Rooney Mara and Noomi Rapace.

Sony has debuted the first official trailer for the latest film in David Fincher's English-language version of The Girl in the Dragon Tattoo series, continuing with the sequel The Girl in the Spider's Web.

The eye-watering trailer for the forthcoming film shows Salander using a taser on the groin of a man who beats his wife. It stars Claire Foy as Lisbeth Salander, Sverrir Gudnason as Mikael Blomkvist, Lakeith Stanfield as Ed Needham, and Stephen Merchant as Frans Balder, along with Sylvia Hoeks, Claes Bang, Christopher Convery, Synnøve Macody Lund, and Vicky Krieps.

The Girl in the Spider's Web has a November release date so we'll have to wait a while but in the meantime, check out the rather intense trailer. Golden Globe victor Claire Foy, the star of The Crown, will play the outcast vigilante defender under the direction of Fede Alvarez, the director of 2016's breakout thriller Don't Breathe.

This time around, Lisbeth has developed a degree of notoriety as the "righter of wrongs", and "the girl who hurts men who hurt women".

It's Claire Foy like you've never seen her before.
