Martin Truex Jr. holds off Harvick for Stage 1 win at Pocono

The day's other big moment came in the pits when Kevin Harvick had an issue during a stop and dropped from first to second.

Ryan Blaney tagged along with his dad to the track and raced scooters in what the kids called "mini-Pocono".

Pocono Raceway is a unique track on the NASCAR circuit. In eight races, he has five top-fives and six top 10s.

This one lacked for memorable moments and became, like many Pocono races, a matter of strategy over bumper-to-bumper drama.

Taking charge of Sunday's Pocono 400 by staying out under caution on lap 140 of 160, reigning Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. pulled away after a restart with seven.

Blaney dove down pit road on Lap 16 to short-pit and ensure he had enough fuel to make it to the end of the first stage.

Today could finally be the day Harvick breaks through at Pocono.

Elliott, 22, who finished 10th at Pocono on Sunday, actually had an awesome string of second-place finishes in his first four starts at MI.

"There are so many things to manage and have to go your way". Logano had to suffer a penalty and lost lap time. There is a lot going on. "It was really fast out front", he said.

Michigan is next for the No. 22 team and things should be heading in the right direction being as Logano was the last to win at MIS before Larson's recent string of dominance.

Kyle Busch, driver of the #18 Comcast Salute to Service/Juniper Toyota, poses for a photo with the winner's decal in Victory Lane after winning the NASCAR Xfinity Series Pocono Green 250 Recycled by J.P. Mascaro & Sons at Pocono Raceway on June 2, 2018 in Long Pond, Pennsylvania.

Not even a pit-road speeding penalty could slow down Busch, as he won his first Xfinity race of the season and 92nd of his career.

"I think three out of the four have definitely been the best", Larson said of Harvick, Busch and Truex.

Jones, 21, finished 13th and third in his two starts at his home state venue - leading five laps in the late summer MI race. That year, Cale Yarborough won five times and Richard Petty won four.

Truex chose to stay on the track while other race leaders pitted.

Toward the end of the first stage, Blaney surrendered positions to Clint Bowyer, Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott. "Of continuity in a team and getting the details out of these cars is highly important and Kyle is that type of guy that can be that part of the equation that really helps fill the gaps from a knowledge standpoint". 2 times for 31 laps; Kyle Busch 1 time for 13 laps; R. Blaney 1 time for 11 laps; B. Keselowski 2 times for 10 laps; D. Wallace Jr.

But when Harvick won at Dover, Busch finished 35th. When Busch won last week at Charlotte, Harvick crashed out early and finished 40th.

Many left Pocono with good reason to feel the race may have been a preview of what to expect in the Homestead-Miami season finale that crowns a champion.

"But yeah, you haven't had exciting one, two, three guys mixing it up back and forth for the lead, stuff like that, kind of going on". Pretty sure that wouldn't be too hard, right? Stage two would again go incident free like stage one.

Pocono could be that place.

Busch will start fifth on the grid. Harvick was next at 174.115 miles per hour.

"The restarts are always a question mark", Truex said. That ties him with Marvin Panch and Curtis Turner just outside the top 50 all time.

The series shifts to MI where Larson is the defending race victor.
