New Apple Products That Might Get Announced at Today's Event

Apple is rolling out a new feature called Shortcuts, which adds "quick actions" for any app. This means you'll no longer need to type in a password through the Siri Remote's often frustrating and inaccurate touchpad, as long as you take advantage of Apple's Keychain password saving system. Users can also create their own emoji using a new feature known as Memoji, designing emoji to look how they want. Apple's adding a "walkie talkie" feature that lets you, well, use your Apple Watch to chat with friends like a walkie talkie (provided you have a Wi-Fi or cellular connection, that is).

However, one of the biggest additions to the macOS experience that was announced today isn't yet available for developers.

Other digital wellbeing features to launch with iOS 12 include enhancements to the "do not disturb" feature, including a bedtime mode that dims the display and hides all notifications from the lock screen until prompted in the morning. While Apple did not announce the changes during its presentation of iOS 12 at WWDC 2018, iPhone X users have noticed the changes in the beta release of the update.

One of the more interesting features that no one really asked for, but seems super useful nonetheless, is an app for measuring things.

Cook said at the conference that the number of Apple's global developers has surpassed 20 million in over 70 countries, yielding a gross revenue of 100 billion US dollars.

Yes, as you may already know, iOS 12 is here in an initial pre-release form.

Another feature, Downtime, creates a scheduled time when the user is locked out of almost all installed apps on his or her device, which is a great way to block kids (or yourself) from using a phone or tablet at bed time.

All of these new features will be available in iOS 12 later this year. You'll also be able to set time limits for apps. Most parents share their iPad with their child and any time limits you set will be for that device.

WWDC, Apple's most anticipated event of the year in terms of software, started amidst a clamoring response from developers who have gathered to witness the roadmap of Apple for the upcoming year.

In the wake of lawsuits centered on Apple's decision to purposefully slow down old models of iPhones, the purported focus of Apple's iOS 12 is improving the speed and performance of both new and old phones, as well as eliminating some bugs.
