Rajinikanth's 'Kaala' leaked online on piracy website, Twitterati are angry

Agitators were seen requesting the 67-year-old actor's fans not to watch the movie for the sake of their Kannada brethren fighting for Cauvery water. Expectations are high on this film and Nitish is excited to be sharing the screen space with the legendary star Rajinikanth. The Rajinikanth-starrer will hit the screens on Thursday, following judicial intervention from three different courts. Reports suggest that "Kaala" is Rajinikanth's biggest release in the U.S. so far and has superseded "Kabali".

Despite the Supreme Court's ruling in favour of 'Kaala'release in Karnataka the film continues to face the wrath of pro-Kannada groups who have threatened to disrupt the screening in the state.

Movie theatres are adorned with grand posters and hoardings of Rajinikanth's film and it's no less than a festival for fans of Rajinikanth worldwide today.

"Kaala", which is facing massive protest in Karnataka by pro-Kannada activists, created history by becoming the first Indian film to be screened in deeply conservative country after the return of cinema. "But we hope they have some great story to be shared which may be liked and the film does well", said Mohan. "I would imagine, (given) the socio-political stand Rajini Sir has taken in the past one year, people might have started looking at him differently from the demi-god that he used to be", said Pookutty. Even the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) is reportedly disappointed with Thalaivar over his comments on Cauvery water issue. On Wednesday, Rajinikanth had appealed to Kumaraswamy to provide security at theatres that wished to screen the film.

Upset with Rajinikanth's statement over the Cauvery row, a Karnataka film body banned the release of the film earlier this month.
