Warriors crush Cavs to win third NBA title in past four years

All-Star forward Kevin Durant told ESPN's Rachel Nichols on Thursday that he will re-sign with the Golden State Warriors this summer. He scored 43 points, and received some incredible praise from LeBron.

Curry also addressed the Durant luxury specifically: "He helps the situation, but we don't walk on the floor like, 'Oh, there is K.D. We're good.' We still have to play and play hard and play well".

In his press conference on Thursday, LeBron couldn't avoid more questions about KD.

The 2015 Finals MVP went to the locker room with less than a minute left in the first half with an injury to his other leg, later diagnosed by the team medical staff as a contusion of the right leg.

Durant is finishing the first year of a discounted two-year, $51 million deal with the Warriors that included an opt-out clause for the 2018-19 season.

He did apologize to Portland after saying that, while smiling and nearly cracking up. After the game, LeBron called Durant's three an "assassin play".

For the second straight year against the Cavaliers, Kevin Durant took, and made, that shot. Golden State led by two at the end of the third quarter before keeping control in the fourth. They defeated the Warriors 137-116 in Game 4 behind 40 points from Kyrie Irving and 24 made three-pointers.

But the Warriors fought back into it, with Durant hitting a variety of impossible-to-defend jumpers, and it was a one-point game with six minutes to go. The Warriors started the game on a 13-3 run, fixated on avoiding a repeat of last year's Game 4 that saw Cleveland force the series back to Oracle Arena.

Cavaliers star LeBron James, playing in his eighth consecutive finals, scored 23 points, grabbed seven rebounds and passed off eight assists but fell to 3-6 in the championship series for his career, having twice won with Miami and triumphed again with Cleveland in 2016.

In Game 3 of the Finals a year ago in the same building, Durant hit a deep 3-pointer to give the Warriors a 3-0 series lead.

"We know we can beat this team and we have to have the confidence to do that", said Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue. James said that with all of Golden State's weapons there was "really not much pressure" on any one of them. Most people didn't think they had a chance in this series and you could make the argument that with a few more lucky bounces Cleveland has a 2-1 lead going into Friday night's Game 4.

But - even with a strong performance from Rodney Hood off the bench - the Cavaliers couldn't capitalize.
