Tiger Woods boat: Yacht to be US Open base in Hamptons

Grant SmithJun 11, 2018

The 14-time major champion is now ranked 80th in the world following last weekend's Memorial Tournament, where he finished tied for 23rd. The report states that Woods will be staying on the yacht while playing in the tournament and, why not?

Woods has been out of golf for most of the past two years and his world ranking fell out of the top 1,000. It's not the first time he's done this-he also pulled the Privacy into a marina for the U.S. Open in 2006.

The vessel requires a crew of nine to operate, and has a running cost of $2 million a year.

Woods bought the boat in 2004 after his marriage to Elin Nordegren and the couple reportedly spent their wedding night on the yacht. She apparently made numerous interior design choices for the sleek vessel, like the dark cherry wood, marble and leather furniture. An elevator can take those aboard from one level to another, and there's a walk-in fridge, a dining area on the deck that seats 12 as well as a "sky-lounge bar", according to People. Along with bedrooms, the yacht houses a gym, a theater and a hot tub. For Tiger Woods, that apparently means pulling up his 155-foot yacht and staying there. The area around Shinnecock Hills on the eastern end of Long Island is full of attractive rental homes and beachside hotels. He tried to sell "Privacy" in 2011 but found no takers at his price.
