Trump withdraws endorsement of G7 joint statement, slams 'weak' Trudeau

Howard TerryJun 12, 2018

"Canada has stood with the United States in every modern war and crisis".

"Canadians, we're polite, we're reasonable, but we also will not be pushed around", Trudeau said.

In a meeting at the White House during the French president's visit to Washington in April, Macron suggested the United States and France should work together to resolve shared trade problems with Beijing, prompting Trump to make his remark, a person in the room told CNN.

He fired off furious tweets saying he told U.S. representatives "not to endorse the Communique" and accusing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau - who hosted the summit - of being "dishonest and weak".

In fact, Canada has every right to be insulted that Mr. Trump would invoke national security in their trade dispute. "On the contrary, as part of the USA law, we are part of the national defense base of the United States". Kudlow said Trump won't let people "take pot shots at him" and that Trudeau "should've known better". Or we'll stop trading with them'. "Do Timber & Lumber in USA?"

On June 1, the U.S. imposed a 25 per cent tariff for steel and 10 per cent for aluminium on imports from the European Union (EU), Canada, and Mexico. According to the outlet, G7 members had significant difficulties in reaching the agreement on a final statement. Canada has all sorts of trade barriers on our Agricultural products. He had other things, bigger things on his plate in Singapore, he said. $800 Billion Trade Deficit.

"I have made it clear to [President Trump] that it is not something we relish doing, but it is something that we absolutely will do", Trudeau said.

Trudeau announced on Saturday that all G7 members had endorsed the joint communique; however, he noted that the USA tariffs are "insulting" and Canada "will not be pushed around". On Saturday, he called the Canadian prime minister "very dishonest and weak". According to a Canada release, they make nearly 100 Billion Dollars in Trade with U.S. (guess they were bragging and got caught!). "Look forward to seeing them tomorrow".

May 31 - The Trump administration announces that Canada will no longer be exempt from steel and aluminum tariffs, prompting the Trudeau government to announce its own counter-measures.

"He's not going to tolerate that, nor should he", Graham said on Fox News. "And tariffs are going to come way down, because people can not continue to do that", he added. We're like the piggybank that everybody is robbing. "And that's a very profitable answer, if we have to do it", Trump warned before leaving Canada for Singapore where he is scheduled to hold a much publicised summit with North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un tomorrow.

He continued: "So I'm not so sure a majority of Americans believe that globalization and free trade is in our interests. After many decades, fair and reciprocal Trade will happen!"

With only hours remaining before a historic summit between the leaders of the United States and North Korea, it's easy to lose sight of what President Donald Trump (and some of his top staffers) said and did just before arriving in Singapore: Blow up an global gathering with some of America's closest allies with a combination of erratic behavior and hugely impolitic statements.

President Donald Trump talks with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during the Women's Entrepreneurship Finance event at the G20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany, Saturday, July 8, 2017. Minimum is 17B. Tax Dairy from us at 270%.

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow and trade adviser Peter Navarro drove the message home in an extraordinary assault on a close USA ally and neighbour. "He really, actually, you know what, he did a great disservice to the whole G-7".

Navarro called Trudeau's comments "nothing short of an attack on our political system".
