Document: US, N. Korea aim for ‘complete denuclearization of Korean Peninsula’

Howard TerryJun 13, 2018

Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump are now in a private meeting in the historic Capella Hotel in Singapore.

One of the notable spectacles of Tuesday's US-NK summit was the "tremendous" relationship the two leaders forged. North Korea has long objected to the drills as a security threat.

Trump did most of the talking, and the North Korean leader appeared to listen attentively, turning to him three times during their walk toward their meeting room.

"Working together, we will get it taken care of", Trump said at the beginning of the expanded discussions, forecasting that he and Kim will solve "a big problem and a big dilemma".

"The old prejudices and practices worked as obstacles on our way forward, but we've overcome all of them, and we are here today", he said, after which the pair shook hands and Trump gave his famous thumbs-up to the cameras.

Now the beef is over, let's have that collabAnyone remember what happened next?

Kim and Trump started their first summit with a historic handshake before a row of the national flags of the two countries that lasted for several seconds.

Both leaders spoke of optimism regarding their closed door meeting.

Trump said near the end of a lengthy press conference that he may be wrong about Kim, but he'll never admit it.

He says, "We're much further along than I would have thought".

The other thing that they have said, Balbina Hwang, is that Chairman Kim is inviting President Trump to come to North Korea, and he accepted the president's invitation to come to Washington.

"What people don't know is that Kim Jong-un prepared a video of his own for President Trump, and guess what?"

"We had a really fantastic meeting".

I am a Singaporean now away from home, but I was closely following the Trump-Kim meeting on the worldwide news channels the past few days.

Inclusion of interpreters in such high-profile summits is not something new but for a summit between a USA president and a North Korean leader, they assume utmost significance because the chances of misinterpretation and misunderstanding are too high.
