England manager Gareth Southgate has confirmed that Manchester United and Three Lions forward Marcus Rashford has sustained an injury that will potentially see him miss his country's World Cup opener on Monday.

"But other than that, everybody came through fine".

"We're pleased with how preparation has gone up until now, we fly out tomorrow so it'll be good to get on with it now", said Southgate.

Southgate's squad fly to Russian Federation on Tuesday and play Tunisia in their first group game on Monday, 18 June.

Southgate's team, who face Belgium, Tunisia and Panama in Group G, head to the World Cup having failed to live up to expectations at recent tournaments, with the 1966 world champions last reaching the quarterfinal stage at Germany 2006.

"We are obviously excited to be here now.

It's going to be a gruelling adventure but we're very proud of what they are all doing".

Gareth Southgate says England won't walk off the pitch if there is racism at World Cup

"We worked together on ITV during the Euros in Poland and Ukraine and we got on really well and share a similar outlook".

"I would be surprised if the majority of players did not say the World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world".

England's arrival at their hotel was met with a strong security and media presence.

Ashley Young said he had no concerns over his family coming to Russian Federation, amid worries over racism after defender Danny Rose announced he had told his family not to travel to the tournament.

Rashford impressed during last week's 2-0 victory over Costa Rica, netting with a 25-yard strike during the first half of the friendly at Elland Road.

"I think there was a shift in public opinion in November when we brought in some of the younger players", said Southgate.

"We hope we can send people to work the following day having enjoyed our matches", said Southgate before departing for Russian Federation.
