The high temperature at this time of year is usually around 85 degrees. The high hits 91, with head indices in the mid 90s.

On Tuesday, a high near 90 is forecasted with partly sunny skies. Lows will be in the 70s. That will come as the low pressure system in the Gulf moves westward across the Alabama and MS coasts.

Low temperatures are projected to be around 75 degrees Tuesday night with light winds.

Shower chances increase big time with an impressive cold front moving in Thursday. Some of the storms could be strong with gusty winds and heavy rain.

On Friday and Saturday, high temperatures will likely be between 100 and 112 degrees in many valley locations, in the mountains at lower elevations, and in the Antelope Valley. The best shot for showers and storms will be overnight Wednesday into Thursday. By Wednesday the heat index high for the region will be around 97. Those high clouds blocked just enough sunshine to prevent any record highs from being broken yesterday. The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency warned that heat and humidity over the weekend could be life-threatening, and urged people to check on children and the elderly, and also on pets.

Temps along the Eastern Seaboard could back off by next weekend, when rain was possible for the corridor, he said. Highs around 91. Wind SE 5-10 miles per hour.

SATURDAY | Mostly sunny and insane comfortable! Relief could be days away, as the forecast is that temperatures will return to the mid-80s in the East near the end of the week. South winds around 5 miles per hour. Fryeburg's high Sunday was 92 degrees, with a heat index of 97 degrees. Look for mostly cloudy skies, lows near 73 and east winds around 5 miles per hour. Most of these will have dissipated by the time the cold front traverses southern New England by Tuesday evening, but an isolated thunderstorm can not be ruled out north and west of the city during the evening commute.
