India opt to bowl against England in the third T20 global

Indian captain Virat Kohli on Sunday praised his team-mates for showing character in tight situations in the seven-wicket win in the third and final T20 worldwide to clinch the series 2-1 at Bristol. Rohit Sharma skied a catch off Jake Ball, Shikhar Dhawan was carelessly run out after dropping his bat, and Lokesh Rahul, fresh from a brilliant unbeaten century in Manchester, was bowled by Liam Plunkett.

England put on 94 for the first wicket between top scorer Jason Roy (67) and Jos Buttler (34) but after the latter was bowled by Siddarth Kaul the run-rate slowed and they eventually limped to 198 for 9.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya (33) then took over and slammed a couple of fours and sixes to help India reach the finishing line and win the T20I series.

Roy was caught behind shortly after off the bowling of Deepak Chahar. Yadav scalped a career-best 5/24 in the first match but was rendered ineffective in the second where he recorded figures of 0/34.

Jonny Bairstow (25) and Ben Stokes (14), preferred to Joe Root having recovered from a hamstring injury, put on 37 for the fifth wicket but when they were removed just two balls apart by Pandya, India were able to restrict England to just under 200.

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya says his team's win in the T20 global series against England is a stepping stone for the upcoming 50 over series. Pandya had a formality to do and he did well with a six to take India to victory, that too, in style.

During the game, MS Dhoni got his name registered in the history books becoming the first wicket-keeper to take 50 catches in T20s and also the first keeper to take 5 catches in a single T20 match. However, Pandya reaped the rewards of it in a game-changing second spell where he picked all of his wickets for just 16 runs. Hence it is predicted that India will win this match against England. "There was a lot more clarity in the shots that we played".

'I think the comeback from the bowlers was outstanding, we thought they would get 225-230.

"When I went for 22 in an over I thought the T20 is a amusing format and the only thing to do was to come back and bowl my best balls". England had a good opportunity to amass a huge total, but India fought back after the twin dismissals of the English openers. A lucky top-edge for four took Rohit to his fifty off 28 balls, while Virat Kohli took his time settling in.

"We have a fantastic supporting staff and leaders who give us huge confidence to go and express ourselves".

'The pitch was really flat, we enjoyed ourselves as batsmen. The character we showed is something we're very proud of.
