Kensington Palace announces Prince Louis' godparents

Louis, the 11-week-old youngest son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, is being baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury on Monday afternoon in the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace in London.

With a royal Christening to organise, three children under five and of course, being on maternity leave, it's looking unlikely the Duchess of Cambridge and husband Prince William will attend their favourite event this year.

Kensington Palace has not released the guest list, but newlyweds the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to attend, along with Kate's pregnant sister Pippa Middleton and their brother James Middleton.

Mrs Robert Carter, the couple's close friend; she went to school with Kate and her sister-in-law, Sophie, is godparent to Princess Charlotte.

According to an Express report, the christening marks Prince Louis' first official royal appearance.

Louis' godparents, who will be announced on the day, will take part in the private 40-minute traditional religious ceremony, which begins at 16:00 BST.

Water from the River Jordan will be poured from the Lily Font, a silver baptismal font commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1840, during the baptism.

Following the service The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will host a private tea at Clarence House.

Prince George's baptism was kept uncharacteristically small, in a shift away from the larger ceremonies that his father and grandfather enjoyed at Buckingham Palace.

He will be welcomed into the Christian faith dressed in the same frilly, cream gown used for George and Charlotte.

Prince William, Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will appear together for the first time.

Former Suits star Meghan, who married into the royal family less than two months ago, is 14/1, while Kate's sister Pippa Matthews is 10/1. (Getty) While the occasion was to celebrate the baby princess, her older brother definitely stole the show.
