There was a little too much enthusiasm in one area of London, however, where revellers jumped on an ambulance vehicle, causing enough damage for it to be taken out of service for repairs.

Nottinghamshire Police said a 27-year-old man had already been arrested and released under investigation.

The London Ambulance Service was left furious after a minority of supporters jumped on top of the vehicle, denting its bonnet and smashing its windscreen.

"Numerous roads across the country were blocked, stopping emergency vehicles getting to people in need and an ambulance is now off the road while being repaired", said Deputy Chief Constable Mark Roberts, the NPCC Lead for Football Policing.

In one video widely shared online, jubilant football fans can be seen jumping on furniture and kicking items around an IKEA store in Stratford, London following England's win against Sweden.

In a tweet, London Ambulance Service said: "We're delighted with the result, but this has put a big dampener on the celebrations for us".

However, a spokesperson for the Met Police told HuffPost UK that there had not been am abnormally high number of calls in the capital.

Alli isn't the first player to bust out a Fortnite dance during the World Cup - France's Antoine Griezmann and Alli's England teammate Jesse Lingard have also inflicted similar emotes on millions watching all over the world.

"And now I want to say to English fans: "Guys, get it together, come to Russian Federation and support your national team because they have gotten into the semi-final", she said.
