Ex-athletic director unaware of abuse claims

Ohio State University announced in April that was investigating whether university doctor Richard Strauss sexually abused athletes on numerous school teams when he worked at the school from the mid-1970s through the late 1990s.

Seven wrestlers from the era accused Jordan of knowing about the alleged abuse.

"Jim Jordan is one of the most outstanding people I've met since I've been in Washington", Trump told reporters Thursday.

Former three-year captain Jude Skove finished his career at Ohio State before Jordan became an assistant coach but told the Asbury Park Press he trained with Jordan at a tournament when Jordan was a student.

"We talked about it all the time in the locker room" Range continued, while confirming that Jordan was there in the locker room while these conversations took place. "It was there. He knew about it because it was an everyday occurrence", according to the Washington Post. I have faith in the American people and I believe most recognize a baseless smear campaign they see it.

"It was expressed to me by one member that after Joe Paterno, you never want to go too deep in defending somebody, because you can have somebody who was just nearly seen as an otherworldly figure of integrity and then you find out that 'Wow, he really did know more than we thought he did".

"I have always known Jim Jordan to be a man of the utmost character, honor and integrity", Meadows told CNN. "No one ever reported any abuse to me". They say DiSabato has a long-running beef with Ohio State University over the loss of his right to license merchandise and say he is pulling Jordan into the scandal in order to publicize the scandal to the detriment of Ohio State.

One wrestler said he told Jordan directly about the abuse. He questioned why the focus has been on wrestling, noting that OSU is investigating abuse in other sports, and said while he can not speak for all former OSU wrestlers, he never saw inappropriate behavior from Strauss and never heard of any during his time at the school.

"At no time while Jim Jordan was a coach with me at Ohio State did either of us ignore abuse of our wrestlers", Hellickson added.

When Fox News' Bret Baier asked Jordan about the claims that he was aware of the abuse from conversations in the locker room, Jordan responded: "Conversations in a locker room are a lot different than allegations of abuse".

Jordan is a co-founder of the conservative House Freedom Caucus and is considered a candidate to replace retiring House Speaker Paul Ryan. And while the federal government issued guidance in 2001 that required "responsible adults" to report abuse, that guidance did not exist from 1986 to 1994, when Jordan was an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State - though state law at the time required any suspicion of abuse to a person under 18 be reported. Some said Strauss groped them barehanded during physicals, had them drop their trousers even while examining them for a cough or heartburn, and badgered students to go home with him.

"I know they know what they're saying is not accurate", Jordan said.

"Mike DiSabato has a vendetta against Ohio State. My heart goes out to anyone who was abused in any way", he said. "The speaker will await the findings of that inquiry".
