Thai football team rescue celebrated in the Dutch media

Thailand's navy SEALs, who played a central part in the rescue effort, wrote on their Facebook page: "We are not sure if this is a miracle, a science, or what". The rescue operation, which began Sunday, included a team of global divers and the Thai Navy SEALs.

Eight of the 12 trapped boys were brought out of the cave by divers in the past two days.

The danger was highlighted by the death of a former Navy SEAL as he helped bring oxygen tanks along the route. Helicopters transporting the boys roared overhead.

Their joy and relief was echoed around the globe by the multitude of people who had watched the long ordeal in widely broadcast newscasts.

Mr Karadzic, who the BBC reported was stationed near a hard stretch of the cave about halfway along the escape route to replace oxygen tanks and help guide people through, said the rescue workers had feared the worst.

"I'm happy for Thais all over the country", he said.

"This just kind of fit our DNA in terms of a really inspirational story", he said during an interview conducted late Monday. We ask to pray that this operation is a success.

Amporn Sriwichai, an aunt of rescued coach Ekkapol Chantawong, was ecstatic. "I felt like he was one of my own children and I wanted him to come home".

The soccer team and their coach got trapped on June 23 after monsoon floods left them trapped as they explored the cave complex in the northern province of Chiang Rai.

Divers have rescued eight of the boys.

The divers and medic, whose names were not immediately released, were all healthy after making the arduous journey out of the underground maze from the chamber almost 3 miles deep where they helped the once wayward group and kept them calm as plans to extract them were being hatched, officials said.

He shared images and video as four members of the soccer team, as well as their coach, were still trapped inside.

The mission wasn't entirely successful, however.

Chiang Rai Gov.Narongsak Osatanakorn said Tuesday's rescue operation began at 10.08 a.m. and involves 19 divers. The search operation quickly turned into a rescue mission involving 90 divers - 50 foreign and 40 Thai - though some warned it could take months.

While their parents have been able to visit them, they have been kept separate "through the glass because doctors are concerned". "It's called anxiolytic, something to make them not excited, not stressed". They were given a treat on Tuesday: bread with chocolate spread that they had requested.

After several days, a rescue operation was launched on Sunday when four of the boys were brought out, tethered to rescue divers.

Staff previously said their first assessments would focus on the boys' breathing and signs of hypothermia, as well as a potentially fatal lung infection known as cave disease.

"Great news that they made it out safely". Medical experts say they are in high spirits and generally healthy. "We wish them all the best for the future".
