Interestingly, Crenshaw is known for painting colourful artworks using his feet, said a local news report.

Jonathan Crenshaw, 46, is accused of holding a pair of scissors with his feet and stabbing 22-year-old Cesar Coronado just after midnight on Tuesday morning, according to Miami Beach police.

Police said the victim's friend told officers that the victim was asking Jonathan Dale Crenshaw, 45, for directions when Crenshaw pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the victim.

A homeless man with no arms has been arrested in Miami after he stabbed a tourist with a pair of scissors, according to police.

Crenshaw told officers he was lying down when Coronado punched him in the head, according to an arrest report obtained by the Miami Herald. Paramedics took him to an area hospital for treatment. He then tucked the scissors in his waistband and walked away. Born in Alabama, Crenshaw says his mother fed him rat poison in an effort to obtain health insurance.

He was detained near the attack in a popular shopping and tourist area near South Beach and charged with one count of aggravated battery, a second-degree felony, police said.

Police found Crenshaw nearby after he was described to officers as a homeless man without arms.

Mr Crenshaw told police he acted in self defense.

Crenshaw has a court date on July 18; his bond has been set at $7,500.
