Pakistani Ex-PM Sharif to Return For Prison Sentence

Pakistan's deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz has stated on Saturday that she along with her father will be flying back into the country within 10 days.

Pakistan's opposition leader and former cricket star who has set his hopes on becoming the country's next prime minister unveiled Monday his party's "manifesto" ahead of this month's parliamentary elections.

Naturally, Netizens took to social media to mark the occasion hilariously trolling the PML (N) leader and his daughter Maryam, who too was given seven years for abetment, and one year for non-cooperation with the NAB. The corruption case involved purchase of four luxury apartments in London's Avenfield House.

"After continued raids of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) at his houses in Abbotabad, Mansehra and Haripur, Captain Safdar made a decision to surrender before NAB", NAB said. Maryam was given a prison term for allegedly providing a forged trust deed, for which Safdar was a witness.

Sharif will reach Lahore, his home town and political stronghold, on July 13, his daughter Maryam said in a Twitter post.

After the verdict on Friday, Safdar said "justice has been massacred" and railed against the judiciary.

"Nawaz Sharif restored peace, put an end to loadshedding and initiated (other) development projects yet - day in, day out - we face false allegations", he told supporters at an election rally in Haroonabad.

She has accused the military establishment and judiciary of targeting the Sharif family in a series of tweets since the verdict, Pakistan's first historic corruption conviction of a top politician.

"Due process will be implied against the court's decision", Maryam had said, adding: "The institutions in the United Kingdom have already told the Pakistani institutions that no illegality was carried out". He denies drawing the monthly salary.
