Isaiah Thomas, Nuggets Agree On One-Year Deal For Minimum

Wojnarowski further reports that Thomas' deal with Denver will be for one year at the veteran's minimum.

According to ESPN, Thomas will have a key role as an off-the-bench scorer. Thomas regained some of his offensive pop during his brief run with the Lakers, averaging 15.6 points per contest and shooting nearly 40 percent, but was shut down when his ailing hip flared up late in the year.

It's with the Nuggets that Thomas will be reunited with ex-Sacramento head coach Mike Malone, and part of a Denver squad that finished with 46 wins a season ago (but finished in ninth place in the Western Conference for the second year in a row). He was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a swap of star guards in August. He was an All-Star in both 2015-16 and 2016-17, averaging 25.5 points and 6.1 points in those seasons combined.

Thomas played just 32 games last season, 17 for L.A. and 15 for Cleveland, as he was slowed by a hip injury.

Last season, Thomas started with the Cavaliers, but he did not get to take the court until January due to a hip injury he was recovering from. In the playoffs, he had his career-best scoring game just a few weeks after his sister was killed in a auto accident.

"Legendary (expletive)! Don't get it twisted", Thomas wrote on an image about his historic 52-point playoff game against the Washington Wizards.

Now Thomas joins a Nuggets roster that had three guards average at least 15 points last season.
