Nets reportedly send Lin to Hawks, acquire two from Nuggets

Grant SmithJul 14, 2018

He ruptured the patella tendon in his right knee during the Nets' opener last season, and while he was out Spencer Dinwiddie stepped in and became one of the NBA's most improved players.

Along with Lin, the Nets will give the Hawks a 2025 second-round pick and the right to swap picks in 2023, per to the report.

The move helps clear up the Nets' logjam at point guard and sends Lin to another team that is also pretty crowded at the position.

The Brooklyn Nets have traded guard Jeremy Lin and a future second-round pick to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for a future second-round pick, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

For Brooklyn, the Denver trade was about using its cap space to acquire the protected first-round pick in 2019 to pair with its own and the unprotected 2020 second-round pick. He produced 2.8 points in 7.4 minutes per game.

Lin will be entering his ninth season in the National Basketball Association next fall, and the Hawks mark the 6-foot-3 point guard's sixth team.

Since leaving the Knicks, Lin has played with the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, the Charlotte Hornets and the Nets.

A Newark native, Faried, 28, averaged 5.9 points and 4.8 rebounds in 32 games last season.
