Donald Trump Insults LeBron James' Intelligence Because Of Course

Irene MckinneyAug 04, 2018

Earlier this week, James was a guest on CNN Tonight with Don Lemon for an interview about the "I Promise" school that opened in Akron on Monday.

LeBron James has made the playoffs every year since the 2005-06 campaign. He also added that he "like [s] Mike", which many presumed to be a reference to legendary sports star Michael Jordan. In 2013, Trump tweeted that he thought James was a "great player and a great guy", and sent another congratulating the National Basketball Association star on winning at the ESPYS.

He was responding to remarks by then-Cavs star James and Warriors ace Stephen Curry, who both said they would not attend a White House reception.

"Rather than criticizing [LeBron James], we should be celebrating him for his charity work and efforts to help kids", Kasich, a frequent critic of the president, tweeted Saturday morning. Donald Trump is travelling to OH on Saturday for a campaign rally.

LeBron's on-court rivals Golden State Warriors are in the same camp with him as they have not been to the White House during their back-to-back championship wins in 2017 and 2018.

During the interview, James was asked about Trump, and said that the president was "using sports to kinda divide us".

The interview that Donald is referring to took place after LeBron's foundation, the LeBron James Family Foundation, and the Akron Ohio Public Schools launched a new elementary school for at-risk children on July 30.

Neither Lemon or James have yet reacted to Trump's tweet. A man who puts kids in classrooms or one who puts kids in cages?

James said he chose to open the school, located down the street from his high school, because he knows exactly what young students are going through.

"Sports has never been something that divides people", Mr. James said.

James addressed various topics during his interview with Lemon, including politics, saying Trump has used athletics and athletes to split up the country.
