LeBron James Tweets Positive Message To Kids After Donald Trump Attacks Him

Irene MckinneyAug 06, 2018

While NBA athletes, entertainers and politicians alike fired off a flurry of responses directed at the president, James' first tweet following Trump's diss made no mention of the former reality TV star turned politician.

Michael Jordan is speaking out in support of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James after President Donald Trump insulted his intelligence. It's always been something that brings people together.

On Friday, Trump tweeted about James and Lemon, who has also been critical of him in the past. He added that Lemon "made Lebron look smart, which isn't easy to do". One person who was apparently up late watching it: President Trump.

"I support L.J.", Jordan told NBC News through his spokesperson on Saturday.

"What I've noticed over the past few months, he's kinda used sports to kinda divide us, and that's something that I can't relate to", he said at the time. "He's doing an awesome job for his community", Jordan said through a spokeswoman. "You know?" said James, who on Monday opened an elementary school for at-risk youth in his native Akron, Ohio.

Not long after the tweet went viral, National Basketball Association players came to James' defense.

Melania Trump isn't on her husband's side in his personal battle with LeBron James.

The statement didn't criticize the president.

Though Jordan hasn't played in years, fans have endlessly argued about which athlete is better on the pro-basketball court - James or Jordan.

The First Lady released a statement through her spokeswoman giving James credit for the work he has done off the court.

When Lemon asked: "What would you say to the President if he was sitting right here?" "A man who puts kids in classrooms or one who puts kids in cages?" followed by the #BeBest hashtag, in reference to First Lady Melania Trump's campaign discussing children's well-being.

In 2013, Mr Trump tweeted: "Lebron is a great player and a great guy!" According to their website, The LeBron James Family Foundation's "mission is to positively affect the lives of children and young adults through education and co-curricular educational initiatives". Their history includes trading barbs when Trump revoked an invitation to the White House for the Warriors.
