McGregor returns to UFC

Nurmagomedov claimed the vacant belt by defeating Al Iaquinta - a late stand-in after the withdrawals of Tony Ferguson and Max Holloway - by unanimous decision, and his first defence will be against McGregor.

That led to charges for McGregor, who escaped a jail term and criminal record after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct, paving the way for the bout against Nurmagomedov.

The father and coach of Khabib Nurmagomedov says Conor McGregor should refrain from "provocations" after a bout between the fighters was confirmed for Las Vegas in October. White laughed. "He's obviously lost lots of money".

The often-outspoken Irishman has not fought in the octagon since November 2016, when he became only the third man to capture UFC titles in two different weight classes by beating Eddie Alvarez.

McGregor, speaking with TMZ, revealed a deal for his comeback fight was near to completion nearly two years since his last appearance in the octagon.

The UFC 25th Anniversary Press Conference aired live on YouTube on Friday afternoon from The Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. The MMA company has two pay-per-views on the horizon, UFC 229 and 230, and Dana White booked two big matches for the respective events.

"It's time to go, so it's time to go", Diaz said. He blamed an unspecified lawsuit as a reason he was gone from the UFC for so long.

Added Poirier: "We're going to show up, I promise you that". Mayweather vs. McGregor was an event first and foremost, and whether or not a competitive fight ever came out of it was never really the point.

The incident occurred shortly after UFC president Dana White stripped McGregor of his lightweight title. "It's good to have Nate back".

This battle should be the most anticipated event of the year and will be part of UFC 229.

"This is a championship fight right here ..."

"I'm pretty confident that we can control what happened", White said.
