Paul Pogba's Manchester United future unsettled by Jose Mourinho's criticism

Manchester United have rejected a massive offer for World Cup winning midfielder Paul Pogba from Barcelona according to reports in Italy.

United said last night that Pogba was not for sale amid claims that Barcelona and Juventus want to sign the World Cup victor before the European transfer window shuts at the end of the month.

Barca coach Ernesto Valverde refused to deny his club were interested in signing Pogba over the weekend, as he offered this answer to when quizzed about the midfielder.

Pogba was inconsistent last season and was even dropped by the United boss for a spell in the second half of the season.

Pogba, who did not accompany United on the US tour, will meet Mourinho this week after returning to United's Carrington training centre Monday after a three-week break following France's World Cup triumph.

Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, is reportedly flying into Manchester this week and is keen to secure the player's move away from Old Trafford.

Back in 2016, the 25-year-old completed his move back to Old Trafford for a-then world record fee, but things could have been very different according to one of Barcelona's directors.

Paul Pogba has been linked with a move to Barcelona - but who could replace him at Man Utd?

'I don't think it's about us getting the best out of him, it's about him giving the best he has to give, ' said Mourinho last month.

Jose Mourinho tells ESPN FC that the World Cup was the flawless habitat for Paul Pogba as he could 'only think about football'.

Raiola's ask for bigger wages was followed by claims from Pep Guardiola that Manchester City had been offered the chance by the 50-year-old to sign Pogba in the January transfer window.
