Video shows Brooklyn nail salon workers attacking customer

Protests intensified at the Brooklyn nail salon where a worker and a customer were arrested and charged for their involvement in a violent altercation over a $5 botched eyebrow job. Maduka also wrote that the employees were, "hitting them like animals".

Mercy Maduka says she witnessed the fight, recorded it with her phone and posted the video to social media Friday - where it garnered hundreds of thousands of views. A nail salon employee was arrested after she was caught on camera repeatedly attacking a customer with a broom. Another woman can be seen being held back by a male employee. Zheng was charged with assault and weapon possession and was later released following a hearing in Brooklyn Criminal Court, police said. The first woman, who was able to escape, is her friend, and a third woman also being threatened with the broom was the unsatisfied customer's grandmother. And protesters had picketed outside the nail salon, accusing the Asian-owned business of disrespecting residents of the predominantly black neighborhood.

The salon employees began to assault the three black women with broomstick, dustpans and their hands. The shop was closed for the day and Johnson encouraged viewers of the video to continue protesting and boycotting the business. But the salon contends that she also refused to pay for the pedicure.

"You couldn't pay me to come back here", said resident Crystal Harper.

Later that evening, protesters marched to another nail salon that they say is owned by the same people. "He said 'I'll fix it, ' she said, 'you can't fix it'". Thomas declined medical attention, the station reported.

Fellow customer Mercy Maduka, who was not involved in the fight, captured the brawl on video.

The incident happened last week at New Red Apple Nails on Nostrand Avenue near Martense Street. The service is below standards and they lack respect for people of color. One sign read "Black $$$ Matter". "If we go into an establishment to get something done, and then we end up being assaulted, something certainly needs to happen to that establishment".
