USA urges Canada and Saudi Arabia to resolve feud

Canada imported 71,300 barrels of crude a day from Saudi Arabia as of 2014, accounting for about 11 percent of the country's imports, according to Natural Resources Canada.

Russian Federation has said that Saudi Arabia has the right to reject Canada's interference and to express its annoyance at the "commanding tone" coming from a perceived position of moral superiority.

Almost 100 worldwide students in Waterloo Region could be affected as tensions heat up between Saudi Arabia and Canada.

Since rising to power in 2015, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has courted Western allies to support his reform plans, offering billions of dollars of arms sales and promising to fight radicalism in the kingdom.

Despite those ideals, however, the country has continued to take aggressive actions against some neighbours, and concerns about domestic human rights practices persist.

"That for Saudi Arabia was the source of growing frustration", he said in a phone interview.

The kingdom has also expelled Canada's ambassador Dennis Horak, giving him 24 hours to leave the country over the intensifying diplomatic row. We are going to continue to enunciate what we believe are the appropriate ways of dealing with citizens, " Finance Minister Bill Morneau said on Tuesday.

Saudi Arabia responded by reducing the level of diplomatic relations and stopping cooperation with Ottawa in several fields, most notably trade, education and medicine. Saudia Airlines has also announced it will suspend flights to and from Canada starting August 13. The state airline operates at least two routes flying from Toronto. That will remove an estimated $2 billion in investment from Canada. On Monday, Freeland doubled down on the position by saying Canadians expect their government's foreign policy to be guided by their values.

The U.S. State Department has urged Canada and Saudi Arabia to resolve their escalating feud.

The execution came during a deepening dispute between the two countries sparked by Canadian criticism of how Saudi Arabia is treating jailed activists.

Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir, speaking at a news conference in Riyadh, said there was no need for mediation in the dispute.
