Kenya: DONE DEAL: Arsenal striker joins West Ham | The Standard - Kenya

Grant SmithAug 10, 2018

The striker finally leaves the North Londoners despite many statements by his agent saying that the Spanish worldwide wants to stay at the Emirates Stadium but it is likely that Lucas Perez made a decision to leave the club because he was afraid that he won't get enough playing time this season under Unai Emery.

With the Baggies unable to offer Premier League football like West Ham, they would have to convince him to turn down a move to London.

"I'm very happy to be here at such an historic club", he said.

It has been a really busy summer in east London and the 29-year-old Perez becomes West Ham's eighth new signing, as manager Manuel Pellegrini overhauls his squad.

Perez was signed from Deportivo La Coruna for £17m in the summer of 2016 but failed to establish himself as a regular in the team.

He returned to the La Liga side last season and many suspected he could have had a fresh start at the Emirates.

The Irons announced on deadline day that the midfielder would join on a two-year deal from Serie A outfit Fiorentina.

'I'm very happy to be here. "I'm very excited and looking forward to achieving lots", Sanchez said in a club release.

"I also want to give my thanks to my team-mates and to the staff of this club for giving me the opportunity to make my debut in one of the best leagues in the world and win the FA Cup".

Perez managed to score eight goals in 35 matches for Deportivo who have been relegated into the Segunda division in Spain last season.
