Rodgers says he suffered sprained knee

Grant SmithSep 13, 2018

Due to the injury, the Packers have made a decision to play it safe this week with Rodgers, who was held out of practice on Wednesday so that he could rehab.

Rodgers denied needing to practice in order to play, which strays from the norm in Green Bay.

After quarterbacking the Packers to a comeback win on Sunday night, Aaron Rodgers said he will play against the Vikings this weekend despite the knee injury that temporarily took him out of the lineup. "He'll be given the whole week to get ready".

Knowing coach Mike Zimmer, I'd expect plenty of pressure on Rodgers. "We'll take it day by day and learn as we go".

Wearing a brace could be an option, depending on how the quarterback feels later in the week.

Chicago Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson got off to a fast start in Week 1's game against the Green Bay Packers and provided the kind of downfield playmaking ability the Bears were missing from their offense in 2017.

"There was a lot of adrenaline", Rodgers told reporters, "and (it's) pretty sore the last three days".

Rehabbing on Wednesday was not a setback, McCarthy said. The injury limited Rodgers to seven games a year ago. He said he would try to return to practice on Thursday and was optimistic about playing Sunday.
