Actress Amy Schumer, center, is detained after participating in a protest in Hart Building to oppose Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on October 4, 2018.

Ratajkowski later posted about the arrest on her Instagram page, sharing a photo of her at the protest carrying a sign which read, "Respect female existence or expect our resistance".

She added, "Men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power". "I demand a government that acknowledges, respects and supports women as much as it does men".

Kavanaugh's confirmation has been in limbo since an FBI investigation was ordered on Friday to look into the multiple sexual assault allegations against him. This energy manifested itself into protests in front of the Supreme Court and Capitol Building today.

Among the masses a few celebrities have been spotted speaking out against the judge, with Amy Schumer and Emily Ratajkowski ending up detained by law enforcement.

In another video posted to Twitter by @Theboldtype_z, Schumer made light of her pending arrest by sending a video to a fellow protester's daughter. Another fan got a special message from Amy on a video, saying, "I think [I'm] gonna get arrested".

Ratajkowski also posted about her arrest on Instagram.

Police had shut down the Capitol Building in advance of the protest, prompting participants to gather in the Hart building instead, according to Women's March which reportedly organised the protest.

"That's what we're going to do". Show up! We will keep fighting.

Earlier this week Donald Trump was criticised for imitating Dr Ford, who could not provide precise information about every aspect of the day of the assault, at a rally in Mississippi.

"I am angry on behalf of women who have been told to sit down and shut up one time too many", Sen.
