Chief Justice John Roberts orders new investigation into Brett Kavanaugh

"We've seen a 500 percent increase in our fundraising at the end of the month as tensions have been boiling over in Washington and voters have started to pay attention", Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel explained on Fox News Tuesday.

Heading into the November midterms, the GOP is defending its House and Senate majorities. He says it would backfire and help Trump in 2020 the way President Bill Clinton's impeachment cost Republicans two decades ago.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski, an Alaska Republican who voted against her party to protect the Affordable Care Act in 2017, told CNN that she would not be supporting Baldwin's resolution.

US Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh has sought to put a bruising confirmation battle behind him at a White House ceremony in which President Donald Trump declared him innocent of sexual misconduct and apologised for the heated process. "I'm proud that she's in the Republican conference".

McConnell wouldn't say whether the Senate would insist that Sessions' replacement would protect special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation.

According to Deadline, Kimmel joked that Trump is "flying extra high today after the confirmation of beer-battered Brett Kavanaugh, who is now on the United States Supreme Court despite all of the stuff you know about".

Likewise, at a campaign rally earlier this week, Republican gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis of Florida denounced Democrats for "debasing" the Senate.

"Surely, they must have a better answer than snatching away one of the remaining options that some Americans still prefer to anything Democrats have been able to come up", Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said before the vote.

Before Kavanaugh got a seat on the court, several polls were finding the opposite. Trump has said Alaskans will make her pay.

At his Iowa event, Trump said a Democratic takeover of Congress could allow Democrats to impeach Kavanaugh, a prospect some Democrats have raised.

GOP leaders blasted the Democratic proposal in advance of the vote, saying it would take away a low-priced insurance option for families who Republicans argue were hurt by the Affordable Care Act, more commonly referred to as Obamacare.

"I'm not saying nobody could do it. but it requires a lot of force, more than you might think", Roberts said.

The Kentucky Republican said he was speaking from experience.

Kavanaugh is expected to push the court further to the right as he is replacing Kennedy, a conservative who sometimes voted with the liberal justices on key social issues such as abortion and gay rights. The school recently said that Kavanaugh will not be returning to teach there. Fifty-six percent (56%) are angry about how the Senate treated Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who accused Kavanaugh of sexual assault, including 35% who are Very Angry.
