For some with cancer, 'pink October' can't end soon enough

Aiello proclaimed October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the City of Olean on Tuesday during the city's Common Council meeting.

More than 50 people attended the "Real Men Wear Pink" event Saturday at Mountaineer Brand's storefront, celebrating funds raised while learning more about breast cancer.

NO Bra Day falls every year on October 13.

"We're concerned and we're committed, and we pray for those who are going through this disease and those who have lost their courageous battle with this disease", says Jones. "They sponsor our kickoff breakfast where we host all of our team leaders; they give us a $25,000 check and then raise another $20,000 within their system".

Dr Hussein Abdel Rahman Rand, Assistant Under-Secretary for Health Clinics and Centres, said that the programme is part of the Itmenan campaign, which involves the "Universal Periodic Examination" and "Early Detection of Cancer" initiatives adopted by the council of ministers. They took a group photo in front of a pink firetruck, an annual tradition. This event will feature free breast cancer screenings, women's health and information presentations and a free brunch. There, in the tent, survivors and fighters were able to connect with each other, something those in attendance have grown to appreciate greatly.

No Bra Day falls in the middle of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. "Because like I said, it is a struggle, it's a journey". It's also important to look at your breasts in front of a mirror so you can see if there's anything wrong. To those who are fighting and love their Redskins, the opportunity to bond was viewed as something special. "With the support of other organizations, we feel encouraged to bring three times our original goal", said Kouri Falconer, the founder and CEO of DREAM Inc., a nonprofit founded in 2014 to provide support and access to services for underserved communities. "We really appreciate it".

In addition, because the numbers are relatively small, some doctors don't always jump to cancer as a conclusion in younger women.

"I get to remind them what they're fighting for", he said.

"About 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer over the course of her lifetime", says Jessica Rayhanabad, M.D., medical director, breast surgery, MemorialCare Breast Center, Long Beach Medical Center.

"It has been my anchor", she said. "Just the whole experience is just a great experience". "There is hope, there is hope", said cancer survivor Mary Hughes.

"People are often curious about how our environment - like air pollution or contaminants in food - might increase breast cancer risk", says NBCF funded researcher Dr Brigid Lynch. "Just stay positive and you will make it through, you will make it through".
