Israeli army opens probe into killing of Gaza medic

Palestinian security sources in Gaza said that an Israeli war jet destroyed a 4-floor building in Gaza city and levelled it to the ground, adding that the building was empty of populations and no injuries were reported.

The children were killed for allegedly attempting to sabotage the border fence and being involved in placing a home-made explosive device next to the fence.

There have also been several military flare-ups.

They came from the village of Wadi al-Salqa around a kilometre from the border fence.

Ibrahim al-Satari, the father of 13-year-old Mohammed, said he couldn't understand it.

"It's normal for them to go there, and that's why we did not expect them to be martyred", said Salwa Abu Isied, Khaled's mother. "They could have caught them and found out they were playing or hunting".

United Nations envoy Nickolay Mladenov expressed sympathy for the families. "Children must be protected, not exposed to violence or put in danger".

The Palestine Authority (PA) called on the worldwide community and the United Nations human rights organizations to immediately take global legal action and hold Israel accountable after committing a crime that resulted in the killing of three children near Gaza Strip border.

Israel's army said Tuesday it has opened a military police investigation into the killing of a Palestinian medical volunteer along the Gaza border in June.

At least 218 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire in Gaza since months of protests began in late March.

Moreover, remarkably, a plurality of Palestinians in Gaza say they want Hamas to change its rejectionist position and agree to make peace with Israel.

Israel justifies its blockade by the need to contain Hamas and accused the islamist movement that runs the enclave of orchestrating the protests for "terrorists".
