Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly on the verge of returning to football as manager of AC Milan, taking over from Gennaro Gattuso.

While the 69-year-old French worldwide has been linked with the vacant seat at Real Madrid in the last week, emerging reports indicate he will moving to Italy to take charge of AC Milan.

Wenger has been without a club since leaving Arsenal at the end of last season, 22 years after taking over the Gunners in 1996. "I am well rested and ready to work again".

"I said many times maybe the best way is not to be in England because I spent so much time at the same club it would seem odd to go somewhere else [in the Premier League]".

"But at the moment I can not tell you [about my future] because I don't know".
