Google Chrome will ad-block entire websites with abusive adverts

These features are not enough to prevent deceive or unsafe ads, therefore, Google taking a new move to block them from the web.

Google launched an ad blocking experience in Chrome earlier this year, and now the firm is expanding on those efforts with Chrome 71. Furthermore, of these abusive ad experiences are used by scammers and phishing schemes to steal personal information. Chrome 71 will automatically blacklist websites that continuously put out abusive behavior.

GOOGLE HAS UNLEASHED the latest weapon in its war on bad ads, with the announcement of Chrome 71.

Webmasters find information about abusive site experiences on their sites in the Google Search Console.

The crackdown will target online ads that pose as system warnings, close buttons, and "watch video" icons, but actually trigger a flood of pop-up ads or an application download when you click on them.

This isn't the initial step by Google to make the user experience of web perusing more secure with Chrome. "Abusive experiences" was basically in reference to all of the super obnoxious ads across the web that open new tabs or windows and redirect you to pages you don't want to go.

"However, we've learned since then that this approach did not go far enough", Google said in its blog.

Fake Mouse Pointer Ads or page elements that display a fake mouse pointer in the hopes that the user will try to click on it or interact with it.

Google shared an example of an abusive mobile experience on a mobile device that initiates an involuntary app install. For users, the new feature will be optional but enabled by default under a new setting in the browser's settings. If you are not compliant, you have to fix it within 30 days; failing to do so can lead to Chrome blocking ads entirely on your website. Should they fail, Google will promptly block their ads.

What do you think about this protection from Chrome? Such measures, of course, have been insufficient to prevent misleading or unsafe ads, which is why Google is taking action.

As such experiences were becoming a commonplace with 1 in 5 feedback reports apparently mentioning some form of user-hostile content.
