Closer and closer: Scott leads by .18 percent, DeSantis by .44

Nelson's campaign asserted that Scott was overstepping his bounds. Bill Nelson by.22 percent.

"This race is over", Scott spokesman Chris Hartline said Wednesday.

According to the Broward County Supervisor of Elections website, 695,799 ballots were cast. But lawyers for Scott contended the information is already required to be collected under state law and should take minutes to provide. The suit also accuses her of preventing county canvassing board officials from performing its duties, the WESH report said.

But 22,000 votes still need counting in the tight race between Mr Kemp and Democrat Stacey Abrams - who has not yet conceded.

Scott announced the suit and his call for an investigation at a press conference at the governor's mansion Thursday night.

Trump later weighed in, tweeting Thursday evening: "Law Enforcement is looking into another big corruption scandal having to do with Election Fraud in #Broward and Palm Beach".

The tabulation of those votes will continue to narrow Scott's razor-thin lead over Nelson, Elias predicted. A lead of less than 0.25 percent triggers a hand recount of actual ballots.

Latest vote totals from the state of Florida show the governor's race is now headed for a mandatory recount.

Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson has pushed for a recount given that he trails Scott by such a slim margin.

Scott claimed victory Tuesday night.

The governor's race may also face a recount.

"Democrat lawyers are descending on Florida", Sen.

Elections officials in Broward County, where Democrats have a large advantage, were still reviewing ballots Thursday.

He said Thursday morning, the number went up to 695,700 ballots. "Right now the results are unknown, as to who has won", he said.

"The Broward supervisor of elections Brenda Snipes has a history of acting in absolute bad faith". Just 39,000 votes now separate the two men.

Marco Rubio, questioned why all the activity seemed to be occurring in liberal strongholds such as Broward County and Palm Beach County where, days after polls closed, batches in undisclosed amounts seem to materialize and further trim Mr. Scott's lead. "But you know what?"

Elias says it's "not appropriate" for a governor to suggest he's going to use his powers to "interject his law enforcement authority to prevent the counting of ballots that have been legally cast".

"Florida voted for Rick Scott!".

Broward County District Court Judge Carol Lisa Phillips was, unsurprisingly, not impressed with this argument and ruled that the county must produce the voting records requested by Scott by 7 p.m. on Friday.

In a statement, Florida Democratic Party Executive Director Juan Penalosa said: "This race is too close to call, and there are still thousands of votes to be counted".

The Florida governor's race appeared to be all but settled Tuesday night when Gillum conceded to DeSantis.
