Klipsch enters smart speaker race with ‘The Three | Google Assistant’

Google is bringing an update to its Assistant that includes a number of new holiday-themed features, as well as some new abilities for the company's helpful digital assistant that are meant to keep us from turning into manner-less boors belting out orders to our gadgets.

Google Assistant now also recognizes when you say "please" and "thank you", and will give you an equally polite response in return, making the AI software more human-like than ever before.

The "Pretty Please" feature headlines Google's list.

The ultimate aim with the Pretty Please feature is not just to reinforce polite behaviour towards Google Assistant devices but also to encourage people to have politeness in their daily lives.

The feature is enabled for all voice matched users on Smart Speakers and Smart Displays starting today.

In addition to the Pretty Please feature, the Google Assistant has received the ability to create notes and lists simply by using your voice. Google says it will also be adding support for Todoist, Bring!, Google Keep, and Any.do in the future.

That and its £450 price tag certainly set Klipsch's offering apart from the more compact and affordable Amazon Echos and Sonos Ones of the smart speaker world, so if you're looking for an obedient speaker that has a bit more muscle than the most popular players, this could be worth consideration. When someone hits you up on the ol' doorbell, just tap the "Talk" button on your smart display to find out exactly what they want.

With visual lyrics, owners utilizing Google Play Music will see lyrics synchronized with a song when played via Google Assistant.

The Show joins a small but growing group of touch-screen smart speaker competitors.

You'll be able to call Santa, too, just by saying, "Hey Google, Call Santa". The result is a device that's great for reading a recipe or watching a quick how-to video, tasks that you might otherwise consign to a phone or tablet. It has now added a few more titles, including Disney's Mickey's Christmas Carol and will introduce other titles from Frozen, Aladdin, Mulan and The Lion King over the coming weeks. Say "Hey, Google, tell me a story".
