No doubt that MBS ordered Khashoggi killing, says CIA

Senator Bob Corker, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, shook his head no, when asked if he thought Haspel's briefing had changed any minds.

There's not a smoking gun.

Turkey is seeking to arrest two former aides to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman who were dismissed amid the fallout from the killing of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.

Graham added: "You have to be wilfully blind not to come to the conclusion that this was orchestrated and organised by people under the command of MBS". That has frustrated senators who are now looking for ways to punish Saudi Arabia.

Graham also said that he would not support the current us military efforts to support Saudi Arabia in its war against Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Fourteen Republicans voted to move it forward, heaping pressure on Trump to act. The Senate voted last week to debate the US assistance, and additional Senate action is expected in the coming days.

A Senate source said Senate leaders would also participate in the briefing, which is scheduled for 11.30am ET.

In the Khasoggi case, Trump has repeatedly avoided rebuking Saudi Arabia, pointing to the economic benefits of USA arms sales to Saudi Arabia and Riyadh's role in preventing a spike in oil prices.

The 58-year-old Hollywood actor could be seen working with a film crew of at least ten people outside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on Wednesday. "But since I have such respect for them, I'm going to assume they are being good soldiers ..." After initially denying the murder, Riyadh has acknowledged that Khashoggi was killed inside the consulate but blamed his death on a "rogue" operation. Following the November 28 briefing, Pompeo and Mattis told reporters there was no direct evidence tying MBS to Khashoggi's murder. "In front of a jury he would be convicted in 30 minutes".

USA senators say they are more certain than ever after a private Central Intelligence Agency briefing that the Saudi crown prince had a role in the murder of a journalist.

"Every senator should hear what I heard this afternoon", Durbin said.

Khashoggi was killed two months ago. He was killed in what US officials have described as an elaborate plot as he visited the consulate for marriage paperwork.

USA intelligence assessments and experts say it is unlikely the killing could have happened without the crown prince's knowledge. "Maybe he did and maybe he didn't!".

There are several proposals in the works, including freezes on all US arms sales to Riyadh and tightening sanctions on those involved in Khashoggi's murder. I had nearly no question before.

But, Stewart said, the United States has to continue relationships with those countries. Initially, Saudi authorities had said Khashoggi, who had written articles critical of the crown prince's policies, had disappeared, after safely leaving the consulate.

The murder has damaged Riyadh's global reputation and Western countries including the US, France and Canada have placed sanctions on almost 20 Saudi nationals. "After all, someone's got to do it".

"I think he is complicit in the murder of Khashoggi in the highest possible level", said Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican.

Some of the most important evidence may be an audio recording of the murder that Turkey said it has distributed.

Erdogan has said that solving the Khashoggi killing would also be in the interest of the Saudi monarchy.

And Sen. John Kennedy, a Louisiana Republican who was not part of the briefing, said that "by the director choosing to meet with some, but not others, congratulations to her, she has pissed off everybody". Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) said, "All evidence points to that, that all this leads back to the crown prince". "Now, the question is how do you separate the Saudi crown prince and his group from the nation itself?"
